CALACS: Combatting sexual violence with a feminist approach
CALACS des Rivières recognizes sexual violence as a grave social problem, deeply rooted in the power structures that govern our society, our culture and beliefs. Such violence has a particular impact on children and women from all horizons. We demand the right for all to live in a fair, equal and respectful society, where the culture of consent is primordial.
Our mission: a feminist approach to create lasting social change
Using a feminist approach, the mission of CALACS des Rivières is to effect major social change. We use different strategies to reach our mission, notably:
- Organization of activities open to the public: Education and information about sexual assault, like the JACVSFF (a day for action against sexual violence towards women).
- Political action: Opinion letters, press releases and lobbying for social reform.
- Concerted action with partners and allies: Collaborations to heighten our impact.
- Support for activists: To embrace and provide support for women and activists who are engaged in the battle against sexual violence.
We can work together to build a more egalitarian society, and effect concrete social change.
